Steve Oertwig discovered his true calling in home inspections after spending years in the printing industry and searching for a more fulfilling career. Encouraged by a friend who recognized his strong technical aptitude and people skills, Steve transitioned into the home inspection field—and never looked back.
With more than 3,500 inspections completed and over a decade of experience, Steve brings a keen eye for detail and a well-refined inspection process to every home he evaluates. His thorough, systematic approach helps clients feel confident they are making a sound investment in their real estate journey.
Even before the State of Iowa required licensing, Steve went above and beyond to establish his expertise. He successfully passed the National Home Inspector Examination and earned the Certified Professional Inspector (CPI) designation through InterNACHI (NACHI22110109). Committed to excellence, Steve continues to pursue ongoing education to stay current with evolving building standards and industry best practices—ensuring every client receives knowledgeable, reliable service.

With nearly a decade of experience and over 3,500 home inspections completed, Steve approaches every inspection with the same meticulous process—ensuring no detail is overlooked. He treats each home as if he were buying it for his own family, delivering comprehensive reports that help clients fully understand their investment. His personable nature sets him apart, creating an engaging inspection experience where clients and agents are encouraged to ask questions and learn.
Beyond his professional expertise, Steve is a dedicated family man who loves spending time with his wife and two children. A true “gym rat,” he starts his mornings at 4:30 AM to train, embracing discipline in both fitness and his career. Whether he’s outdoors, diving into books and podcasts, or meeting new people, Steve thrives on building relationships and helping others—both in the home inspection industry and in his community.
